10 Healthy Holiday Tips

We are super happy the holidays are here! We’ve had a wonderful year thanks to all our readers and look forward to sharing the best in healthy living again next year! While we’re enjoying a brief holiday break to rest and refresh for the New Year, we thought we’d take the opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!

In the spirit of the festive season we thought we’d also share our top 10 healthy holiday tips with you.

1. Lemon Water
Start every day with a strong glass of lemon water to flush your system first thing in the morning.

2. Keep breakfast healthy
Keep it light and go for nutrient and enzyme rich foods like fruit, juices and smoothies.

3. Maintain your exercise routine

Mix it up over the holidays and take advantage of the extra time or new locations you might have.

4. Look at your plate
Load it with lots of fresh whole foods and go for combinations that are easier to digest.

5. Only eat the things you love
Don’t waste your intake and calories on foods you don’t love and always regret.

6. Don’t forget your water
There’s a lot to eat and drink over the holidays but don’t forget your normal water intake as well as our 1 for 1 rule – one glass of water for every alcoholic drink.

7. Make a clean break
Take a ‘clean’ eating day, or even half day, between food fiestas with fruit, salad and green juice.

8. Put down your gadgets
Make your holidays about reconnecting with loved ones and being fully engaged in the moment.

9. Do something new
Invite a new experience or perspective into your life for the new year – a walk in nature, a different book, an unexpected conversation, even meditation.

10. Be happy
It’s the holidays! Laugh, have fun, be grateful, be generous, say “I love you” and celebrate!
